History

Indiranagar Club was founded in the year 1980, by likeminded bureaucrats (IAS, IPS, IFS Officers) in collaboration with residents of Indiranagar with the sole objective of providing Sporting/Literary/Recreational facilities and a sense of belonging to the community.

Current

  • The club has grown leaps and bounds since then to 4500 members, not counting the spouse members and dependent children which would make it roughly a 20,000 strong community.
  • Today Indiranagar is considered one of the most elite residential clubs in Bangalore and boasts of a State-of-the-art library with over 50,000 books of varied interest, best in class Tennis courts, 4000 sq ft gym, world class badminton courts, a squash court and a billiards room.
  • The club is also known to host literary and cultural events which has been graced by celebrities from all walks of life
  • The club has 45 well furnished guest rooms and multiple party halls (Indoor/Outdoor) for the benefit of members and their guests

Social Responsibility

  • The Club donated Rs. 3 Lakhs to Social Welfare to upgrade and maintain the adjacent BBMP park and to install new benches and a proper pathway for the use of residents of Indiranagar.
  • the club has donated a sum of Rs. 5 Lakhs to the Governor, Government of Jharkhand towards natural calamity relief fund (earthquake).
  • During the current Covid-19 pandemic, the club donated Rs. 10 Lakhs towards the Chief Minister’s Covid Relief Fund.
  • The club also ensured all the 45 guest rooms were given to Covid warriors and frontline health workers with breakfast, lunch and dinner services for several months to recognize their untiring and selfless service to the society during the peak of the pandemic.

Community Service

  • The club organised free Covid vaccination drive for the benefit of not only the residents of Indiranagar but opened it to the entire city of Bangalore which benefited over ten thousand people.
  • The club has been regularly organising several health camps including dental and eye for the benefits of the residents of Indiranagar.
  • The club regularly invites schools in and around Indiranagar to bring children to utilize the library facility including children from orphanages and blind school.
  • To support physically challenged women, and to create awareness, the club organized a novel fashion contest, Miss WHEEL CHAIR INDIA.
  • As they say, charity begins at home - when the club was shut for nearly 2 years during the peak of the pandemic, club staff were paid salaries on time and an increment + bonus of 10%.

Green Initiative

  • In an effort towards supporting the environment, the club has installed organic waste convertor of 250 Kgs and the manure generated is used for the plants around the club.
